Conformity assessment – an activity, connected with identification of conformity of assessment objects to the requirements of technical normative legal acts in the field of technical regulation and standardization.
The Law of the Republic of Belarus "On conformity assessment with the requirements of technical normative legal acts in the field of technical regulation and standardization"
(pdf-file 144kb), approved and entered into force in 2004, is aimed at the improvement of the mechanism of conformity assessment on the basis of the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade and international principles.
In 2006 the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On amendments and additions to certain laws of the Republic of Belarus on the matters of technical regulation, standardization and conformity assessment against the requirements of technical normative legal acts in the field of technical regulation and standardization”
(pdf-file 304kb), which anticipates alteration in 48 laws and codes what will provide bringing them into line with new legislation in the field of technical regulation, standardization and conformity assessment was adopted.

THE TYPES OF CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT ARE
The State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus is the National conformity assessment body.
The international cooperation in the field of conformity assessment is implemented according to the legislation of the Republic of Belarus on the basis of observance of the conventional principles and norms of international law. In the international relations in the field of conformity assessment of the Republic of Belarus is represented by the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus.
